The Individual Power Each of Us Holds as Conscious Entrepreneurs & People

By May 28, 2024November 21st, 2024No Comments

Hey, I’m Lindsay, the host of Make Sense w/ Lindsay T., Lady Engineer®, a weekly podcast where my guests and I simplify complex topics at the intersection of people & technology. We analyze whatever hot mess is in the news, evaluate trending innovations through a human-first lens, and take deep dives on a need-to-know basis.

The wheel was not invented in the boardroom, yet we sit in meetings all day hoping for better outcomes without changing our mindset and environments.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results,” Albert Einstein said.

Perhaps your next thought is that you cannot control the meeting schedule and that addressing this insanity is above your pay grade.

Yes, enacting systemic change is epic and overwhelming. I’ve dedicated my life’s work and the Make Sense podcast to surfacing and simplifying the myriad of ways systems are not working for us. Despite my perceived frustrations, I still believe in the possibility of a better, tech-enabled, and more human future.

To get there, we must begin with recognizing that our modus operandi is not working for us, and realizing there’s much for us to do as individuals.

Let’s start now by taking a deep breath and observing your thoughts at this very moment. Breathe with me.

What are you thinking?

Admittedly, mine just said, “You sound like a fruit.”

The sweet agitation of self-criticism. But, I will press on…

To tackle hard problems, we must (myself included, clearly!) adopt fresh perspectives. In this week’s episode of Make Sense, Alex Raymond lays out the four layers of bringing about change in the world:

  • The Conscious You
  • The Conscious Team
  • The Conscious Company
  • Inspire the World

This is the simplest theory of change: We can design a better, human-first future by taking one small step today to work on ourselves.

In this week’s episode of Make Sense, Alex and I also chat:

➡️ His founding story behind The Conscious Entrepreneur Summit

➡️ The roles of curiosity in fostering creativity and innovation

➡️ How overcoming ego and fear helps us build stronger customer relationships

Choice Quote

“If I don’t accept the reality that’s in front of me because ego, I’m lacking information, I don’t want to change my mind or I’m being too rigid, then I can’t make the necessary steps to change. Acceptance of reality, which is at the heart of being a conscious entrepreneur, winds up really helping you to steer your decision-making.”

  2. Immortality-as-a-Service: Humans have fantasized about extreme lifespans for millenia, but the age-old pursuit is now attracting fresh interest from VCs and Tech Companies: Alex talked about a lot going on in the biohacking space [6:52]
