Come on, we all get a buzz on our own ideas, right?
And that’s why we spend so much time obsessing over making the solution perfect before showing it to potential customers.
We think, “Oh, we experienced this problem and this is the solution that works for us” But even before we answer “does this solution work for anyone else?” we need to answer, “does anyone find this problem as painful as I do?”
Imagine how devastating it would be to build out a solution only to be met with, “That’s cool but I don’t want to spend money on solving this problem so I won’t spend money on your solution.”
Early on, creators only listen to feedback that tells them they’re right. In actuality, listening skills (like our kindergarten teachers encouraged) should be the top skill of any entrepreneur along with being open to the fact that maybe this problem we want to solve isn’t a big enough deal to make it a business.
I had the opportunity to sit down with David Grasso & Julia Sun of Bold TV to share how, as founders, we can design the right product before spending all of our resources on the wrong one.
(Also, I mention why Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg aren’t exactly as they seem or the entrepreneurs we should aspire to become)
